Dear Subscriber,
Happy Holidays! I hope you enjoyed
your Thanksgiving. November was a fun month. I had
the honors of performing a one-day makeover for the
Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts and I was
able to begin my market research for one of my recipes.
I will tell you more within this newsletter.

Market Research on Recipe
Last month I mentioned I had 3 recipes copywritten.
Two are for sale on my website and the third one is
undergoing market research to determine if people enjoy
the recipe enough to purchase as a frozen food product.
The family recipe is a stuffed green olive. Over the
last month I have catered events in order to have the
reciped sampled. I provided the olives to a beef and
beer fund raiser, cooked the recipe at Kitchen Kapers
in Moorestown and this Friday I will be at LaVita's
Family Restaurant during the Woodstown by Candlelight
event. So far the olives have been very well received.
If you would like an appetizer for a holiday party,
I would be happy to discuss the possibility of catering
the olives for you.

Last month I shared with you how to place a table and
floor lamp so you have proper lighting. This month
I will share with you how to place a desk light and
a reading light for while in bed. 1) Let's start with
the desk light. Most people are right- handed, if not
then just reverse these instructions. Measure 15" to
the left of your work center, and 12" back at
right angles toward the rear of the desk. Center a
lamp here. Now be sure the distance from the desk top
and the bottom edge of the shade measures 15".
2) For a reading light while in bed, you need to measure
20" from the center of your book out to the side
table. Now measure 16" at a right angle back toward
the wall. Place the lamp so the center of the shade
is just above this point. The height of the table plus
height of lamp base should locate lower edge of shade
approximately 20" above top of the mattress. Next
month I will discuss lighting for applying makeup and
shaving.
December's Fire Safe Checklist
The following information is provided in the hope that
your holidays will be safe and happy.
- WATCH CHILDREN CAREFULLY - See that matches and
lighters are out of their reach.
- CHOOSE TOYS WISELY - Pass up toys that could be
highly flammable.
- SPACE HEATERS - Keep space heaters at least three
feet from any combustible surface. Never use gasoline
or diesel fuel; only kerosene fuel goes in a kerosene
heater.
- PARTY SAFETY - Smokers must be given large, deep
ashtrays and watched at all times. Check for cigarette
butts in upholstery and trash cans. Always cool ashtrays
before emptying them. Or politely request they smoke
outside.
- A FIRE SAFE FIREPLACE - Only burn materials designed
for a fireplace, never store them in your home. Good
idea: have a spark arrester installed on top of your
chimney.
- CHECK OUT LIGHTS - Replace any worn sets or those
with loose connections. Do not overload outlets.
Never put lights on a metal tree. Always unplug everything
before you leave your home or go to bed.
- CARE WITH CANDLES - Always put candles in candlesticks
before you light them. Do not use them in decorations
or displays. Keep candles away from curtains or other
combustible materials.
- CHOOSE A FRESH TREE - Look for one that is not
shedding needles. Trim the tree trunk at an angle
before you put it in a non-tip stand.
- INSTALL SMOKE DETECTORS - Each level of your home
should have a fire detector. Check the batteries
at least once a year. It could mean the difference
waking up to a small, smoldering fire or one you
can't escape.
One-Day Makeover
I almost forgot to mention my big makeover assignment.
This was a lot of fun. It was requested that I properly
display over 600 art related items in two galleries
and then decorate for the holidays. They wiped the
slate clean for me, by removing all pictures and tables.
I had 5 hours to remake the room. The labor of the
art center volunteers was available to me and they
were a tremendous help. I instructed them where to
place items and they helped with placing them. The
art center I am referring to is the Riverfront Renaissance
Center for the Arts in Millville, NJ. If you still
have some holiday shopping visit the center and explore
the many wonderful pieces of art available for sale.
